DAY
1 (L&D) |
Arrive
Nadi (Sunday)
Nadi
– Fiji’s international gateway located on the western side of the
main island of Viti Levu within sight of beautiful Nadi Bay. On a
coastal plain with the mountainous hills of the interior behind and
surrounded by sugar cane plantations, Nadi is the hub of the bustling
tourism industry in Fiji. It is approximately 25 minutes from Lautoka
City, which is the “sugar capital” of Fiji and the second largest
port. Nadi Town serves the ever increasing population of approximately
30,791 people who are either involved in or service the two main
industries of the region, tourism and sugar production.
On
arrival in Nadi at 2245hrs and after completing Customs and Immigration
formalities you will be welcomed by Fathom Travel Representative and
presented with a traditional pottery lei, after which you will be
assisted to your luxury air-conditioned coach for transfer to your
hotel.

Captain
Cook Sailing Safari (Monday)
This
morning enjoy a full buffet breakfast before boarding your
air-conditioned coach for the transfer to Port Denarau Marina, where you
will board your Captain Cook Cruise sailing vessel, SV Spirit of the
Pacific.
Sailing
Safari Overview
Three
days of unforgettable freedom and adventure. The breezes of the South
Pacific will gently guide your voyage through the remote archipelagos of
the Mamanuca & Southern Yasawa Islands. Discover a myriad of
underwater life on coral reefs or trek overland to traditional island
villages.
Carefree
hours of sun, sail and sand. Sunbathe in the bowsprit or spend lazy
hours watching dolphins dart through the blue depths. Learn the art of
tall ship sailing with the guidance of the experienced Captain and crew.
Sleep
ashore on a palm fringed bay. Each evening return to the safari village
in the Southern Yasawa Islands for meals and accommodation in a
traditional Fijian bure (sleeping mats and linen supplied).
Traditional
sailors berth. For those that prefer shipboard accommodation, there are
dormitory style sailor's berths.
The
safari village is also base camp for early morning and evening
activities including sunset swims, fishing tours, island treks, campfire
barbeques and lovo (earth oven) feasts.

WHAT
TO BRING:
As each night you will be camping at our Bure Village, please
bring a soft kit bag (which remains onboard), and a small overnight bag
for the village. Casual clothing is fine. A light sweater may be
required at night. Please bring toiletries, towel, swimwear, sun hat,
sunscreen, and reef walking shoes, any medication you may need. Legs and
torso should be covered when visiting a traditional village (a sulu or
sarong is fine and can be purchased onboard). For personal purchases,
village markets and any optional activities please bring small
denomination Fijian money.
Day 1
itinerary
Set
sail for the Southern Naviti Islands in the Yasawa group arriving at the
Safari Bure Village under the mid afternoon sun. Settle into the
village, explore the island, snorkel the stunning Coral Gardens and
participate in the tropical garden & coconut tree nursery.
Throughout
the itinerary, a highly qualified marine biologist will be accompanying
the group and will be giving marine lessons and activities to learn and
appreciate more of Fiji’s rich and diversified marine resources.

DAY 3 (B,L,D) |
Captain
Cook Sailing Safari (Tuesday)
An
early morning island trek, then sail south to Waya and visit to Nova.
After lunch we sail to a traditional island village and participate in
the Sevusevu Welcome Ceremony, meke (dance) and shell market. In late
afternoon we return to the Safari Village for a special lovo (earth
oven) feast.

DAY 4 (B,L,D) |
Captain
Cook Sailing Safari (Wednesday)
Bid
farewell to Drawaqa and the volcanic cliffs of Waya and set sail for a
spectacular reef. This afternoon we visit Tivua Island before returning
to Denarau Marina at 4pm. Isa Lei farewell by crew.
From
Denarau Marina, board air-conditioned coach to Centra Pacific Harbour
Resort for check-in, freshen up and dinner.

DAY
5 (B,L,D) |
Rural
school visit (Thursday)
This
morning enjoy a buffet breakfast before boarding your air-conditioned
coach and head for a rural local school, Lomeri Secondary School that
was set up and is still being run by the Roman Catholic
Mission.
Upon
arrival at the school, you will be represented by a village elder to
present your traditional respects or “sevusevu” to the school. This
is the true traditional Fijian way of asking for permission and
blessings for your visit and is a very emotional ritual that will create
an everlasting bond and friendship.
You
will then be part of the general school assembly where you will be
introduced to the whole school and teachers by the head teacher,
followed by morning drinks and snacks with senior students and teachers.
You
will then be invited to mix with students of your age in their
classrooms where the Fijian students will welcome you to introduce
yourselves and tell them where you come from and they will also
introduce themselves for discussions and exchange of cultures, ideas and
addresses for ongoing contacts.
At
the end of the exchange, the students will sing you their Fijian
farewell song as you board your air-conditioned coach to return to the
hotel for lunch and swim or other activities.
Following
lunch, you will then board your air-conditioned coach and be transferred
to the Cultural Centre of Fiji for an introduction to Fiji’s unique
culture and traditions.
This
beautiful cultural theme park has been upgraded and a number of new
attractions/events added.
The Centre now offers a very diverse range of attractions; an
island tour, handicrafts, museum, village life, historical and
contemporary presentations, the cannibal days, chiefs, gods and the Bure
Kalou (temple), food preparation, entertaining and humorous shows,
cooking demonstrations and much more.

excursion around the island ‘Viti Lailai’.
Experience eight different live shows on making traditional
everyday items such as:
Carving, Masi making, Basket and Mat Weaving, Cooking, Fishing,
Pottery, Handicrafts and Coconut and Copra.
Return
to hotel for a swim before dinner.

DAY
6 (B,L,D) |
Namuamua
Village Tour (Friday)
Breakfast
then board air-conditioned luxury coach for the full day Namuamua Inland
Tour. On
the way you will take a scenic drive through Deuba and Navua Township
where you will
board an open water taxi for a ride up the Navua River.
You
will pass through the Namosi Rainforest, cascading waterfalls and
isolated villages before being welcomed in the traditional Fijian way to
the Namuamua Village.
Upon
arrival a village representative will present your traditional respects
“sevusevu” as you did at the Lomeri Secondary School. Following the
traditional protocols the villagers will invite you to partake in a
“Kava” ceremony, the unique traditional drink of Fiji.
This is then followed by a tour of
the village before enjoying a lunch followed by traditional songs
and folk dancing.
After entertainment the villagers will sing you their traditional
farewell song, then you board your water taxi for the return journey to
Navua Township.
Return
to your hotel for a swim before dinner.

Relaxing & Departure Day (Saturday)
Breakfast
at leisure then spend the day to relaxing and enjoying the beach, pool
and other free hotel facilities (tennis, horse riding for example).
Other
selection of optional tours will be offered on the day also.
Check
out at appointed time for departure to Nadi International Airport
onboard luxury air-conditioned coach.
Group
check-in at airport counter for departure flight at 2200hrs.
