Hiking/Bushwalks Each of the island destinations
offers amazing hiking and walking routes. In the vicinity of Savusavu is a
Salt Lake with panoramic views of Natewa Bay (the largest bay in the
southern hemisphere). On the Island of Taveuni, hikers can make the
strenuous hike to the 4072 foot peak. Near the mountain top is a lake with
flowers adorning the surface. These flowers do not grow in any other place
in the world. In Lau, short and steep hikes will reveal bird's eye
views of the Bay of Islands.
Biking You can bike from the town of Savusavu, down the
Hibiscus Highway which weaves its way approximately 20 kilometres through
villages, coconut plantations and the coast of Southeastern Vanua
Levu. On the island of Taveuni bikers can take the roads down the coast
or climb the mountains in search of single-track.
Horseback
riding Traveling on horseback is available for cruising
some of the beaches in Savusavu and Taveuni. On the island of Taveuni
horseback opens some routes that are otherwise difficult to navigate on
foot or bike.
Sea
Kayaking In Lau, explore the Bay of Islands on a sea
kayak. Paddle through a maze of islands pointing up from the pale-jade
waters. Kayaks can be loaded with snorkeling gear, pack lunch and fishing
gear to make for an incredible exploration of your own private
archipelago.
Scuba
Diving Scuba diving is world-class in Fiji, and you will
be in Fiji's best spots. Diving is not included in the cost of the Tui Tai
Adventure Cruise, however, several resorts in Savusavu and Taveuni will
lead dives for those interested. Ask Fathom for the diving Information questions@fathomtravel.com
or check out the diving on our Fiji pages under diving
Snorkeling Snorkeling equipment is on board the
Tui Tai, all of our destinations offer great snorkeling.
Fishing While the Tui Tai has long lines out to
land your next meal, you can fish on their own. Deep sea fishing is
available and tuna, walu, giant trevally, barracuda, spanish mackerel, and
other fish are frequently caught. Fly-fishing near the reefs is also a
popular fishing strategy. Hand lines can also be dropped off the Tui Tai
or a sea kayak |
