A wonderful Adventure Island where recent volcanic activity has left a rugged interior covered in lush rainforest, while the coast has a number of white sandy coves with coconut plantations running down to the shoreline and a mixture of both black and white sand beaches. There are also some small clear lakes suitable for fishing and swimming. On the coast, particularly at Laman Bay you can see giant turtles, and if you are lucky the mythical Dungon.

Paradise Sunset Bungalow These bungalows are situated right on Laman Bay, and are close enough to the airport that we advise guests to simply walk to the Airport and back, no worries with transfers! There are 3 bungalows, with a max of 3 adults per bungalow. each overlooking Lamen Bay. Lighting is with kerosene lamps and candles (take a torch if you like reading in bed). The toilet facilities (toilets & showers) are shared in a block specially designed for a minimum environmental damage. Except at times of special cultural events or celebration, the resort never has more than 10 guests. The bungalows are built from local materials as is most of the furniture. Bar & Restaurant: Paradise Sunset is a community and family based operation. The menu is not fancy but offers good, healthy and wholesome food prepared with love and dedication by the staff from fresh local foods. The bar has beer and wine.

A highlight of visiting Epi Island is a swim with the Dungon. This is an animal also known as a "sea cow" or "Mermaid" which in Adult form can grow up to 3 metres in length. They inhabit shallow waters, and feed on sea grass. They have a long life span and slow breeding rate, and unfortunately their numbers are decreasing through out the Indo -pacific region. A swim with the Dungon costs NZD10 per person, although sightings are not guaranteed.
Other Recommended Tours: Half day tour to Laman island - Take a boat across to the Island which lies off Laman Beach. It is a picturesque flat island which has around six hundred residents and is surrounded by white sand beach. On the half day tour you will learn much about the Islanders, their culture and lifestyle while exploring the island. Cost: One person NZD85, additional People NZD55 per person. *Full day Waterfalls tour, in which you get a guided tour of some of the lush inland rainforest and get to see some of the best waterfalls on Epi Island. Cost: One person NZD69, additional people NZD45 per person* *Sunset Tour to Watch Ambrym Volcano* - A great Epi Island experience, where as the sun sets you gaze across the ocean as the fiery eruptions of the Amrym Volcano light the sky. Cost: One Person NZD35, additional people NZD23 per person
