One of the best affordable ways in which to explore Tahiti and her Islands is to stay at one of the many Pensions. These are like a bed and breakfast, or self contained rooms. 

Each one is very different and is usually run by a local family. It is the perfect way to see how the Tahitians live and a great way to see the country. Many of the pensions are in fabulous locations throughout the islands and often the only place to stay on a particular island. 

Sometimes the accommodation is basic sometimes quite luxurious, some have rooms only others will have a full meal plan. Please read the description carefully as there is no rating system for these properties and do not compare with rating systems given to resorts and hotels.
